Cooking my own food has become very easy and enjoyable task for me nowadays especially after experiencing lots of dissatisfaction after dining out! The KFC is not only too oily but also contains ingredients causing an itchy throat and dry sensation in the mouth causing my husband to develop an intolerance towards KFC. The food in the restaurant is awesome but after eating, we tend to suffer indigestion because there is lots of oil and spices such as monosodium glutamate, mushroom soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt etc in excess. Sometimes I found the fried rice and fried noodle in the restaurant with not enough vegetables! Buying take away of biryani (Indian rice) left us unsatisfied with the ghee they put in abundance and when you are not used to it leading to indigestion! Why? Because long ago people used ghee to cook their food because at that times they worked in sugar cane fields doing hard work etc. But nowadays people do light job using more of their faculty than physical. As a result I had eliminated ghee completely in my daily cooking as we had to work hard to eliminate fat stored in our body and I am not the type to do strenuous exercises!
The dissatisfaction of eating out has motivated us to cook our own food for our own health benefits!

And we did not regret it at all! Last year after two days staying in the hotel had made us realized it was not really worth it! For breakfast we had got a variety of breakfast menu to choose and for lunch we get lots of food and dessert and with no big exercise and at night we get a buffet menu. But unfortunately we were not used to all these rich food and consequently our health suffer and we were forcing ourselves to eat even when we were not feeling hungry!
Last week we had decided to have a barbecue grill party before school resumed! The children were excited because they have helped in making it a success! At home they were free like birds compared in a full restaurant where you had to wait to get a free table. Sometimes the table is found either near the toilet or near the entrance door disturbing us with the people moving around. Also with the same amount of money spent in dining out and compared to buying is enormous! we are more profitable when we cook ourselves because the quantity of food is much more than in restaurant and we feel we are paying for the service offered to us.
THE SECRET OF COOKING YOUR OWN FOOD QUICK, EASY AND SUCCESSFUL
Since I have to cook my food most of the time for my own health benefits, why has it become easy and successful? I find myself cooking my food in less than one hour for the whole family! To be successful, I have to plan for one whole week what I will cook so I must have all my groceries and vegetables beforehand. This help enormously in the smooth cooking of my food in 40 to 45 minutes. I love cooking my vegetables in the right quantity instead of cooking a lot then keeping in fridge!Rarely will I keep cooked vegetables in the refrigerator for the next day! I prefer freshly cooked vegetables since they do not take lots of time to cook. Planning beforehand all the menus for one whole week is a great tip!
MY SIX HEALTH BENEFITS OF COOKING MY OWN FOOD ARE:
1.HAVING COMPLETE CONTROL OVER INGREDIENTS USE IN FOOD
In restaurant they use lots of MSG (monosodium glutamate), oyster sauce or mushroom soy sauce in menu which are not healthy and the food is often too oily! But at home, we can control our salt, oil and spices in food for our advantage. While baking a cake we can put lesser sugar and butter to make the cake healthier!
2.SAVE TIME AND MONEY
When we dine out, we get lesser quantity of food and we are also paying for the service they offer us like attending our orders.Whereas cooking at home with all our ingredients and groceries available help us to save time . Our purchasing power increase greatly since with the same amount of money we get many things.
3.AVOID FOOD ALLERGIES AND SENSITIVITIES ESPECIALLY IF A MEMBER HAS A FOOD ALLERGY
For instance my husband cannot tolerate the presence of monosodium glutamate in food.He also dislikes too much of oyster sauce or soy sauce! So I have completely banished the monosodium glutamate from my food and I used the oyster sauce and mushroom sauce moderately.
4.INVOLVING EACH MEMBER OF THE FAMILY TO PARTICIPATE AND CONTRIBUTE!
Eating at home cultivate closeness among family members and develop an awareness of eating a healthy food! Children learn from parents and later they will implement same good eating habits when they will grow up as adults.

When eating outside, we have a tendency to overeat since because we are paying we have to force ourselves in eating all in order to avoid wastage! But at home the attitude change! When we are full, we refuse to take a more morsel of food.
6. AVOID FRIED FOOD COOKING WITH REUSING OIL
When we are frying food at home, we can use a fresh batch of oil and even reuse it again then discard for our health benefits! But the cake sellers on the street will not bother at all, they will reuse the oil again and again and even add more oil if there is insufficient! In the long run we can get heart disease, acidity, increase in bad cholesterol levels thus blocking the arteries etc!
The saying ”Health is wealth’‘ make us realize that our health is very important amidst anything! So we have to make a big effort on our part to keep good health! Personally I have already taken a stride which was a bit difficult in the beginning but eventually has become a good habit for the benefits of the whole family. Today I can proudly say that cooking my own food for my own personal benefits is really worth the effort of trying and implement in our daily life.
